Are there plans for a native Bricks-Gutenberg integration?

I would like to use the Gutenberg editor to edit pages/posts (beyond the PostContent element available already).

I was wondering if there are any plans to integrate Gutenberg editor with Bricks?
There are plugins such as “GutenBricks” out there, I would prefer a non-plugin solution however.

Thank you

Do you mean to build elements with Bricks that you can use within Gurenberg? (Basically exactly the functionality of GutenBricks as you mentioned)

Or something else?

Because technically it’s already integrated, in that you can pull whatever you build in Gutenberg into a Bricks template, or page, using the content widget, and you could style however you like with CSS on that block

I think somethign more elegant, honestly. Any element you place within Bricks would ideally a block element that a user could modify on the front end, similar to what gutenbricks does. What is being done in etchwp looks pretty amazing. Hopefully seeing similar integration within Bricks would close the gap in site creation.

Gotcha. I think Gutenbricks is likely the only short to medium term solution for that kind of thing then.

Agreed on Etch, but that’s genuinely next level stuff. Even something as high-quality as Bricks would likely carry too much technical debt to pull off what Etch is going to do

I don’t disagree there. It’s honestly looking promising from a purely site editing perspective. But Gutenbricks I just don’t trust yet. Still too small/niche… but then so are many addons in the bricks ecosystem.

Applying the samer header/footer to each page is straight-forward in Bricks.

However, I would also like to create flexible page templates. These pages should share the same base elements (table of content, hero header, source reference) so I don’t have copy these pages all over again and changes across the template should take effect on all pages.
I now stumbled across “Bricks components” which seems to be what I am looking for. However, there doesn’t seem to be an option to create a property/component for custom styled lists with a custom length yet? Because I would have to provide each bullet point as a separate component but each of them should have the li-tag

  • Hero header with h1, a short summary and featured image.
  • Table of contents
  • Heading (h2)
  • List with uniform icons across all pages
  • Heading (h2)
  • Text and image
  • Heading (h2)
  • Text
  • More content …
  • List with book icons (source reference)

Bricks actually includes so called “components” which I just found out. This is what I am looking for. However, there doesn’t seem to be an option to apply properties/components to lists.
I would like to create lists and and their styles (icons, …) should be modified globally.
