WIP: zh_TW.po / .mo Translation Issue – Almost Entirely in Simplified Chinese

Browser: Chrome 110
OS: Windows

Description:

After upgrading to Bricks 2.0, I noticed that the Traditional Chinese translation files (zh_TW.po / zh_TW.mo) are almost entirely written in Simplified Chinese instead of Traditional Chinese.

This is not just a few isolated issues — the majority of translations contain Simplified Chinese characters, which makes the interface inconsistent and confusing for Traditional Chinese users, especially in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Examples:

Here are just a few of the incorrect translations:

msgid Current zh_TW :white_check_mark: Correct zh_TW
Select template type 选择模板类型 選擇模板類型
Select 选择 選擇
Export 导出 匯出
Import 导入 匯入
Tags 标签 標籤

These are clearly copied from Simplified Chinese (zh_CN.po) and were not converted properly.

Thanks for your awesome work on Bricks! :brick::sparkles:

Hi Elizabeth,
Thanks so much for your report!

Since 2.0, we’re using a different tool for our auto-generated translations. We’ll get in touch with the developers to get this fixed as soon as possible.

Best regards,
timmse

Could you kindly confirm the approximate timeline for its expected completion?

No, unfortunately not.

Okay. Thank you for your reply!

@timmse
I was just about to ask the same question, and this issue has been around for a long time.
When will new translations be available? I really don’t like that the entire builder is in Simplified Chinese.
Alternatively, could you add a language option in the settings so I can switch everything to English?

You can change the Builder language in Bricks » Settings » Builder:
