WAIT: Unstable in chrome dev tools

I’m experiencing a weird effect that it’s reasonably easy to crash chrome dev tools. On this page, it happens rather frequently, sometimes when i inspect an element, change the website, or simply turn off dev tools.
I’ve been getting this error message:

for this URL: Home Cleaning System - Home in Order

When in bricks preview mode, it will crash both the preview screen as well as the builder.

It also happens in my case, but it’ s since 2.0 Beta, RC and RC 2.0. Not always happening. Sometimes it happens when I edit a style in dev tool OR resize the viewport.

Hey guys,

thank you for the report, but I never encountered this. Does this also happen to you when you check it with “incognito” mode or with all extensions disabled?

Let me know,
Matej

I haven’t tried it with extensions disabled though i don’t have many and they’ve been the same for years. However it does break in incognito as well.

When I’m in preview mode, I also have a weird thing going on with the wordpress admin bar

I’ve also reported this to the google chrome team to see if it’s a bug on their side

I am using Google Chrome 138.0.7204.97 (64-bit). It’s crashing a ton when inspecting elements or resizing the device size

Yes it happens in incognito mode as well. It’s latest Edge

Thank you both for confirming. As this is not happening to me, I’ll ask the rest of the team, if they have similar issues.

I’ll get back to you once I gather more info

Thanks,
Matej

Hi @lynxm and @Newbie,
Could both of you share the access to the website that you experience this issue on, including a short video or steps on how to replicate it?

You can send login credentials to your website and a link to this topic to help@bricksbuilder.io using the email address you used during the purchase, and then we can take a look, and test on your site directly, as none of us is having this issue.

Thank you,
Matej

Hi @Matej,

I just recorded a video about the issue: Loom | Free Screen & Video Recording Software | Loom - 9 July 2025 | Loom

I’ve sent the login credential to the email address.

It also happened when I edit the css in dev tool before.

Regards,

Rhett

One more video showing crash during editing css: Loom | Free Screen & Video Recording Software | Loom - 9 July 2025 | Loom

Hi @Newbie and @lynxm,

Thank you for your login. I logged in to both websites, using Chrome and Firefox, but was unable to reproduce the error, as the browser never crashed.

I’ll ask the rest of the team if they can try as well, but meanwhile, can you test if the same thing happens if you try in Firefox?

Best regards,
Matej

Hi @Matej ,

Just tried in Firefox. It doesn’t happen, but in chrome and edge. It always happens, even in incognito mode.

Best Regards,

Rhett

Hi @Newbie,

based on your video (Loom | Free Screen & Video Recording Software | Loom - 9 July 2025 | Loom), my colleague saw that you have resize event listner, where you refresh the page. This might bring the browser down, based on how many resize events there are.

Can you try to disable Code execution for the entire site and try again?

Let me know,
Matej

Hi @Matej ,

Yes in this page there is resize event. It’s newly added today. The crash happened before.

I just recorded another video in shop page / archive page which doesn’t have resize event (no custom js code). It crashes as well: Loom | Free Screen & Video Recording Software | Loom - 9 July 2025 | Loom

Best Regards,

Rhett

I’m seeing the same thing. It seems dev tools seems stable in Firefox and edge too, though I am still getting corruption of the admin bar when in preview mode in firefox
image

@Newbie, thank you for confirmation. Then it’s probably not that.

@lynxm Yep, I could also see broken icons in admin bar - even in FF.

Can you both try to switch a theme to a default one, like Twenty Twenty-Five and test again?

Matej

Huh - I’ve never done that once I have bricks set as the default theme - will that break anything to switch out?

It shouldn’t, unless there is a plugin or something that relies on the Bricks code and will still run, then there might be an error. Obviously, the front end will be broken when Bricks is not active.

But don’t do it on the live website; create a staging version first, then confirm that the issue is visible there as well, and then try to switch the theme. And once you have staging, you can also try with all plugins disabled, just to make sure

Best regards,
Matej

Hi @Matej ,

I tried twenty twenty-five and the issue didn’t happen.

Rhett

Can you also test with all plugins disabled and code execution disabled as well?

Matej
