honestly, I can see the selection, but that’s probably due to my well adjusted monitor. Nevertheless, you are right that the contrast is very low.

What about something really contrasting like black on yellow, like text selection in builder?
Would be even more visible and more consistent 
I agree we would lose syntax highlighting, but is it very necessary when selecting text?
