SOLVED: Performance with Frameworks

I can confirm. I had my first occurrence of the lag (specifically when trying to move elements in the navigator window of the builder) after making a few complex nested Tabs all calling a lot of dynamic information for some tests on a new site build. Never had any issues until that time. Complex pages with lots of dynamic data definitely seem to be impacted, and I am not using any kind of framework at all.

[ solved ] with 1.7 beta. It feels sooooooooo good now! <3

Hi guys,
As Sebastian already mentioned, Bricks 1.7 beta, now available as a manual download in your Bricks account » Bricks – Account , contains a fix for this massive issue.

Let me quote from the changelog:

Builder Lag On Complex Pages

Users working on complex pages (plus a lot of global classes) often experienced a serious lag while editing in the builder. 1.7 comes with a completely overhauled logic of how the state of elements and classes in the builder is updated, which should remedy this sort of lag.

Due to the nature of this change, please inform us immediately (via email or the forum) if editing elements or global classes in the builder, or using the undo/redo feature is causing any issues.

Best regards,
timmse

I’ve been trying to use the 1.7 beta and have had a few issues; My initial reason for trying it out was a long delay in the Typography tab opening up, whenever clicked it would take around 10 sec to fully open.

I loaded 1.7 beta to a dummy site using Chrome, I also had Bricksforge loaded as well as a few other Plugins, I also (for research) loaded in OxyProps.

Whilst creating a few templates to check the editor load times (which was back to normal speed) and usage I came undone by the editor giving me a completely blank page. On inspection data has loaded but not fully and not displaying.

I deactivated and removed plugins in sequence. No change.

I switched browsers to Vivaldi with the same results.

I deleted everything and started from scratch with a clean WP install. I added 1.7 beta and OxyProps. I created a simple maintenance template (Section) with an image, heading and sub-heading. All working fine.

Went to create a Heading Template, same issue as before, blank page. Tried with a Footer Template, same thing.

Deleted 1.7 Beta and installed 1.6.2, Template editor loads both Header and Footer templates fine.

With nothing on the page but a Section and Container, Typography tab opens immediately. Added a image and text, so far working ok.

Open a new post for this, with steps on how to reproduce the issue.

Will do, I’m creating short video of the process now.

With the 1.7 the lag is gone and it runs like a charm even on very complex pages with a lot of ACF, loops and ACSS/Frames. It is also saving the page almost instantly – before I had to wait for tens of seconds sometimes.

Thanks you so much! Great job!

Well, after a while of working the lag is back unfortunately. But it’s much better than before at least. I have tens of ACF fields in the page and about ten loops with sliders accordions etc.

I can confirm that, while the lag is better and appreciate the work a lot :pray:t4: I still experience some serious lag on custom css box, and structure panel. Still not running smoothly. Sorry :disappointed:

Definitely much better than before. Thanks a lot, guys!

But I also noticed some lags using 1.7. For me – as far as I can tell up to this point – the lag only occured when editing properties on the class level – no problems on the ID level.

I’ll try to reproduce things and provide some more info about the circumstances.

Lag was better in 1.7 beta, but I seem to be having more lag again in the release version. Just typing or correcting text in a basic or rich text field is slowing down agian like the past…
