# DUPLICATE: Can't select slotted components through canvas

This has been mentioned in another feature request post before ( [Component Slots Improvements](https://forum.bricksbuilder.io/t/component-slots-improvements/38448) ), but there was no response to it. However, I believe this is actually a bug.

I’ve been working with the slots that have been added to components, and am very pleased at how these could make it easier for clients to work in site. At present however, it is not possible to select a slotted component directly through the canvas. If you try to click any slotted component, the ‘parent’ component is selected. This means that clients, who often are not particularly techically minded, have to dig through the structure panel to find the relevant component.

Outside of components, the correct element is selected. For example, if I have a container with a text block in it and click the text block within the canvas, it selects the text block and not the container. This needs to work the same with slotted components.
